What is this blog all about?

This blog is designed to be a Reader’s Advisory tool for teens using the Bracebridge Public Library. (As well as anyone else who loves Young Adult books.) It will also feature movie and television show reviews from time to time.

Now I know what you’re thinking… Reader’s Advisory tool… what’s that? And why should I use it? Well I will tell you! In library speak a Reader’s Advisory tool is a device used to give readers a look into books and at authors with whom they are not familliar. It can also allow readers to find a new favourite author or book that is similar to one of their favourites. This Reader’s Advisory tool will feature books that are in the YA (Young Adult) collection of the Bracebridge Public Library.

As for why you should use this blog, there are many answers to that question.

This blog is for you if:

  • you love to read and always want to know about new books, or old books that you haven’t discovered yet
  • you don’t love/hate to read and you need to be sure that a book will be interesting to you before you’re going to bother with it
  • you want to know what someone else thinks of the book (before or after you read it)
  • you like reading about books

Why do I get to write this blog?

I’m the newest Reference Librarian at the Bracebridge Public Library. I just happen to love YA books. And teens. (Also talking with teens about YA books, and anything else they’re interested in!) Because the library doesn’t have much space and doesn’t have programs available for teens at the moment, I thought this would be the best way to provide a service for teens and do something I love at the same time.

I want to hear from you; so if you like a book and want me to read and review it, or if you liked a review… or hated a review, let me know! You can comment on the blog, or you can email me at the library. mcopp@vianet.on.ca  I’m not there every day, so please give me a few days to get back to you.

Welcome to YAbooks@BPL!!
